Installatron is a feature within DirectAdmin that allows you to install an application on your hosting package in just a few simple steps. You can find more information about Installatron itself on the developer’s website.
Installing a new application
This guide explains how to install an application using Installatron. WordPress has been used as an example, but you can follow almost the same steps to install any other application of your choice.
If you have already performed a manual installation of a web application, or want to import an installation from another server, please refer to our guide on importing applications.
1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
2. Type 'Installatron' into the menu's search field and select 'Installatron Applications Installer'.
3. Type 'WordPress' in the search bar or scroll down to the 'Content Management' section and select WordPress.
4. Click the 'Install this Application' button.
5. Enter the settings that apply to your application. Some options may differ depending on the application you have chosen.
- Domain: The domain for which you want to perform the installation. If you have first created a subdomain, it will also appear in the list. Here, you can also choose to make the installation accessible via SSL (https://) (recommended).
- Directory: If you enter a value here, the installation will be placed in that subfolder. To have the installation appear directly under your domain, leave this field empty. The URL where the installation will be accessible is shown just below the input field.
- Version: Choose the most recent version, which is selected by default.
- Language: For some applications, you can select a different language, including Dutch.
- Automatic Update: Here you can configure whether Installatron should automatically perform updates when they become available. We recommend using the settings shown in the image above to stay protected against critical security vulnerabilities.
- Settings: Here, you can optionally choose to change the name of the Administrator account and set your own password.
- Advanced: Select 'Automatically manage advanced settings for me' here, unless you want to manually specify the database settings.
6. Once all settings are correct, click 'Install' at the bottom to install the application. You can monitor its progress on the screen.
7. Once the installation is complete, the application will appear in the overview, and you can click on your domain's link to view your brand-new website!
